Plant

We manufacture all our products in our multipurpose plant in Katwijk, The Netherlands. This greenfield plant in industrial area ‘t Heen was commissioned in 1992. It is the successor to the original plant built in 1914, located close to the center of Katwijk.

Our plant and offices are located about 35 km from Amsterdam airport (Schiphol) and about 60 km and 50 km from the ocean ports of Rotterdam and Amsterdam respectively.

Our multipurpose plant operates 24/5 (continuously on weekdays). Since commissioning of the plant in 1992 various extensions and upgrades have been completed.

Production

Equipment:

  • Stainless steel reactors with volumes up to 10,000 ltr
  • Glass lined reactors with volumes up to 8000 ltr, all equipped with fractionating columns
  • Fractionating installations, also equipped for vacuum distillation of solidifying liquids
  • Automated vacuum distillation system
  • Crystallization units with controlled environments
  • Stainless steel and Hastelloy centrifuges
  • Fluidized bed dryers, vacuum dryers/mixers, plate dryers, closed loop pin mill, drumflaker
  • Spray dryer

Quality Control

Our Quality Control department is well equipped with a range of modern qualified instruments and validated software. All standard chemical tests for finished products, intermediate products, raw materials and packaging are performed in-house. The main analytical techniques available are:

  • HPLC, LC-MS high performance liquid chromatography
  • GC, gas chromatography
  • FT-IR Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy
  • UV-VIS spectroscopy
  • Particle Size determination
  • Drying loss (IR, halogen, vacuum)
  • Titration (automatic)
  • Karl Fischer titration

Our Research & Development department is also well equipped and works closely together with QC in the development of new products, investigations, optimization and trouble shooting.

Storage

Our plant has several qualified warehouses. Our main warehouse for released finished products was qualified in 2016 and is completely separate from the rest of the plant. Climate conditions for storage of released finished products are continuously controlled.
Our tank farm and warehouses for hazardous materials comply with the highest HSE standards. High-expansion foam systems and spill detection and containment systems help minimize risks for our people, the environment and business continuity.
